Stop when the door leaves its path
A roller outside the track or a door hanging at an angle is a reason to stop operating it. Keep the driveway and opening clear. Do not push the door sideways or pull a release handle to try to restore it; the weight may no longer be supported evenly.
Look beyond the displaced roller
The cause may involve damaged tracks, lifting components or an impact. A repair should address why the door left its path as well as the visible position. Tell the technician if a vehicle touched the door or the problem followed another repair.
Your questions
Can I push a roller back into the track?
Do not try to move an unstable door or force the roller into place. The door may be unevenly supported, and the underlying cause needs professional assessment.
Does an off-track door always need replacing?
Not always. The condition of the sections, tracks and lifting system determines whether a repair is appropriate. Visible position alone does not establish the full damage.
