Report the condition before the appointment
A tilted door or displaced wheel should stay unused. Explain whether a vehicle or stored item is behind it without entering the travel path. Existing photos may help, but a closer picture is not worth standing under a suspended section. Avoid pressing another control to see whether the condition changes.
Compare a repairable assembly with a damaged one
Ask which guides, rollers, sections and lifting components need attention. A repair should preserve compatible parts and identify the cause of displacement. If a complete door is recommended, request that proposal separately so the product, removal work and installation are understandable.
Keep Village records with a larger project
Palmetto Bay’s permit resources include existing-permit research and project-specific questions. If the assessment leads to replacement, gather available installation records and direct approval questions to the Village for the actual address. Those records help describe past work; they do not certify the current damaged assembly.
Your questions
Is a loose cable part of an off-track assessment?
Yes. Report it without touching or trying to rewind it. Cable condition and uneven support belong in the same mechanical assessment.
Does a prior permit prove only minor repairs are needed?
No. Earlier paperwork describes an earlier project. Present damage and compatible repair options still need inspection.
