Identify which boundary is worn
A split strip under the door, daylight beside a jamb and water across the slab call for different assessments. Describe the location and whether the change followed another project. Buying a wider rubber strip before the opening is checked can miss the actual cause.
Ask what the seal proposal includes
The written scope should identify the profile, the retainer it fits and any necessary retainer work. A threshold fixed to the floor is a separate item. Discuss the expected closed-door fit without asking the operator to force the door harder against the slab.
Keep larger Pinecrest alterations separate
If the assessment finds a floor or opening problem, distinguish that work from replacing a worn seal. The Village’s Building Department provides the project route for relevant alterations. A seal visit should not silently become an undefined remodeling proposal.
Your questions
Does daylight always mean the bottom rubber needs replacement?
No. Door position, perimeter fit and floor shape can also create a gap.
Will the repair make the garage floodproof?
No. A weather seal is not a flood barrier, and water flowing toward the opening needs separate consideration.
