Record the existing fit
A photograph of the closed opening and any pre-existing gaps provides useful context. Do not assume every uneven edge comes from the door: floor profile and the door’s alignment are separate things to assess.
Protect the operating area
Keep equipment, wet finishes and debris away from the door’s travel path and safety devices. Do not use the opener to press the door into a changed surface. If the door binds after the project, stop and explain what was altered.
Review sealing and water separately
A bottom seal can reduce gaps but cannot correct every drainage or surface-level problem. Ask whether the proposed remedy belongs to the door, the finished floor or the driveway work. Avoid ordering a thicker seal as a universal solution.
Your questions
Will a thicker bottom seal fix a newly raised floor edge?
Not automatically. The altered surface and the door’s travel need assessment before choosing a seal or adjustment.
Should I change the opener’s closing setting after floor work?
Do not compensate for a new obstruction with settings. Have the source of the contact identified and follow the model-specific setup process.
