Start with the opening that will remain
If the door itself is staying, ask whether its condition and travel suit the new operator. Report recent repairs or a tendency to stick. The installation should not hide an unresolved door problem behind a more powerful motor.
Compare the complete installed price
Look for the model, mounting work, safety components and controls in the proposal. Clarify lighting, old-equipment removal and any retained accessories. Two motor prices are not comparable if one excludes the work needed for your opening.
Keep Town questions attached to the added scope
Cutler Bay’s Building Division provides project resources when the job includes alterations beyond an equipment change. Identify any new electrical or building work explicitly. For appointment access, explain an existing community entry procedure without placing access codes in general notes.
Your questions
Is an opener replacement the same as a new garage door?
No. The operator moves a separate door assembly. Ask which equipment the proposal actually replaces.
Should existing remotes be discarded before the visit?
Keep them available for identification and compatibility decisions, including any device you no longer want authorized.
