Write down the problem in plain language
Describe what you noticed, when it began and whether it happens on every cycle. Stuck closed, reversing at the floor and failing only with one remote are different reports. If the door has visible damage, stop operating it and describe what you can see from a safe position.
Plan access to the garage
Mention a vehicle trapped inside or a garage with no other entrance. Keep people clear of an unstable door. If it is safe to do so, move loose belongings away from the work area; do not reach underneath a suspended door to clear it.
Keep the quote and the appointment distinct
An appointment request is not a confirmed arrival time or a final repair price. Ask how availability will be confirmed, what the assessment covers and when the repair scope will be agreed. Retain the written work description after the visit.
Your questions
Do I need the original purchase receipt?
It can help with equipment history or existing warranty questions, but describe the problem even if the paperwork is missing.
Should I send photos?
Photos taken safely can help explain visible damage. They do not replace an on-site assessment or establish a final price.
