Start with the mechanical door
An operator should not compensate for a failing spring or binding assembly. Have those conditions assessed before comparing drive type, backup power or connected features. A desirable feature list cannot make an unsuitable installation fit.
Specify every access device
List remotes, keypad and vehicle controls, and ask which are retained or replaced. Decide whether the selected model includes the features you expect. Keep documentation for the complete access setup rather than only the motor housing.
Identify associated City requirements
If the proposal includes electrical work or a broader alteration, separate it in the scope and confirm the applicable South Miami process. The City publishes construction and inspection guidance; check the actual work before agreeing on a date. Ordinary accessory programming should not be represented as a full building project.
Your questions
Does battery backup also keep my home internet running?
No. Operator backup and the home network are separate systems. Review the model’s supported functions and limits.
Will a wall-mounted model fit any existing door?
No. Door configuration, clearances and manufacturer requirements determine suitability.
