Include previous changes to the door
Tell us if sections, windows or hardware have been replaced since the last spring job. The current assembly matters when specifying a replacement; an old invoice is supporting information rather than a complete specification.
Keep other openings identified
For a property with more than one garage door, note which opener and opening are affected. A working neighboring door does not show that the damaged one is safe to operate or has the same components.
Ask about the completion checks
Before returning the door to everyday use, the repair should include checking movement and the interaction with the opener. Ask what was replaced and keep the service record with your other Homestead property documents.
Your questions
Can a spring be selected using the door’s color?
No. Finish and appearance do not establish the counterbalance requirements of the installed assembly.
Is maintenance enough when a spring is broken?
A failed part needs a repair assessment. Routine lubrication cannot restore a separated spring.
